There is a "New Age" of Network Marketing or MLM that is emerging and those that embrace it can take their Home Based Business opportunities to new heights.  Hello, my name is Mike Witt and I welcome you to High-Performance Marketer.  I, like so many other Network Marketers, have struggled for years trying to master and succeed with this type of business model.  Network Marketing or MLM can actually be traced back to the 1960's with companies like Shaklee, Avon and Herbalife.  In fact, those companies are still around today in one form or another.  Since 1960, there have been hundreds of companies come and go but the challenge today is unlike any in its history.  

  There is one truth in Network Marketing that most fail to realize and it is so fundamental to the survival of this industry.  The truth be told is that Network Marketing is
NOT a "Get Rich Quick Scheme!"  This type of business model is legitimate, the challenge is how to overcome years of shady companies with shady practices and distributors that would do anything to make a sale or sponsor a partner, all in the pursuit of money.  These practices have unfortunately resulted in good companies with solid products to wither away in the night, all due to the quest for the all might dollar.  When emphasis is solely placed on monitory gain, the "How" and the "Why" become secondary to the main goal.  Network Marketing or MLM, in my opinion, is not that different from owning and running a brick and mortar business, all be it much easier and more financially rewarding, the model has many of the same characteristics. 

  Let's look at four of the main similarities:



Traditional Brick and Mortar Business

  1. There must be a product or service that is sold to make money.
  2. There must be marketing to draw in customers to buy the product or service.
  3. There must be salesman to sell the product or service to the customer.
  4. There must be profit that can pay for those salesman to sell the product or service.

  I won't retype these four main similarities in the same format because they would be the identical for Network Marketing.  Doesn't a Home Based Business need to have a quality product or service that people need and want to buy?  Does it not take marketing to get the word out to all your customers?  Does it not take a salesman to sell that product when the customer says I am ready to buy?  Last but not least, is it not the profit from all those salesman's efforts that we seek to build our business and enjoy the lifestyle that Network Marketing can give us?

  In the post's to come I am going to lay out to you why Network Marketing or MLM has reached a "New Age."  To be successful in today's world, you must put aside the past and begin to embrace the future of this business.  Gone are the day's of crazy antics and schemes to sell your products or sponsor partners into your business.  Today's successful entrepreneurs rely on old school business sense with 21st century technology and lay aside the silliness that has tarnished the name of Network Marketing.  I will share with you why according to a survey of accountants and tax preparers, nearly 90% of those that claimed a Network Marketing business, made no money at all or lost money after expenses.  The sad part, of those surveyed, was that more than 50% of those folks were in the same shape the second year and many in the remaining amount had quit before they made it to the second.  I don't know about you, but I was one of those frustrated 90%er's.  I also fell into the second year category at one time too.
