Have you been told this one before? You aren't seeing results because your "Why" is not big enough. Your dreams and goals are not right in front of you at all times. You haven't made it to the point where you say enough is enough.
I have heard this over and over, said many different way's, and to many different people in Network Marketing. It always strikes a negative cord in me because I see people take these fallacies to heart and then when success still doesn't come, they blame themselves, they blame their upline, they blame Network Marketing. I have said many times that organizations who teach this type of "Motivational Persuasion" seem to have the largest number of drop outs. I have also talked about these type of antics that continue to give Network Marketing or MLM a bad name. Why does this give our industry a bad name? Well, I will tell you. People who are backed into a corner, told that they don't have enough belief or a big enough "Why" do bad things in the name of trying to be successful. When these crazy things don't work, guess who they blame it on? You guessed it, Network Marketing and MLM.
What organizations don't realize is that this type of motivation actually does the opposite of what is truly intended. People who constantly hear this type of degrading psychology turn into desperate seekers who finally realize that they just can't do what their upline is asking them to do. Now, the next time they go to pick up the phone to call their son's little league coach to share their great Home Based Business opportunity, the phone weighs 10,000lbs. and when the coach says no, they are supposed to pull out their dream and goal list and figure out why it didn't work.
I know that some successful MLM'ers don't understand what they are doing when they tell their organizations to get a bigger "Why". I also know that some successful Home Based Business owners don't understand that not everyone is right for Network Marketing. But what I do know is that what they will never understand is how this type of motivation actually can bring people closer to the sinking ship, closer to giving up their real goals and dreams and bring them closer to quitting Network Marketing altogether. Instead of teaching the nuts and bolts of being successful, they throw out statements like this, thinking it will turn everyone into a walking, talking robot that has no feelings and can promote their business till the cows come home.
Network Marketing or MLM doesn't have to be that difficult. Yes, it is your own Home Based Business. Yes, it takes work and determination. Yes, there will be failures, but done correctly, built correctly and maintained correctly, the successes will far out way the failures. And generally the failures are good ones, because they are ones you can actually learn from and build upon. Do you know what gave my wife Darla and I our big "Why". Helping people. It isn't the big fancy car, the yacht or second vacation home. It isn't the dream trip's or wads of money. We enjoy this business because we enjoy helping people. And not just anyone, but those who truly want to succeed. Those that have tried all the other methods and are looking for a path that works.
